With Rock Band 2 looming over the horizon, Aaron Espinoza goes back to his Playstation 3 and reviews the original Rock Band.
Harmonix, the company the had you singing with Karaoke Revolution, the company that took your air-guitar away to make you play Guitar Hero, is back once again to help you live out your rock band fantasies in their newest game, Rock Band for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and Nintendo Wii.
If you have ever played any of Harmonix past games, you already have some idea to what Rock Band is. If not, allow me to elaborate it for you. Rock Band is a game that will feature all of your basic Rock n’ Roll instruments, in other words, the game will feature a Guitar, which can also be used as a Bass Guitar, a Drum set, and of course, a microphone. If you are playing Guitar, Bass, or the drums, the notes consist of five colors, Red, Green, Yellow, Orange, and Blue.
The notes are set up on a note track that you will have to watch the entire time in order to see the upcoming notes as they slide down to the “Note Buster,” as I like to call it. The Note Buster is a bar at the very bottom of the note track that has the five colors previously mentioned. You will have to hit each note depending on what color at the right time when they come to meet the Note Buster.
If you are singing, its is almost the same concept, but with out any colors of any sort. You will have to sing the lyrics (that’s a given) with the right pitch and at the right time on the lyric track . Pretty easy to understand.
